Question
IMAGE: http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3384/circuitwd7.jpgUse mesh analysis to find i_{x}.
Where R1 = 100 , R2 = 50,R3=100, R4 = 220, and R5= 470.Vs = 15 V.
First of all, the current orientation of the left (i1)and middle (ix) loops are clockwise, and the right(i2) loop current is counter clockwise.
i1= 15/100 = .15 A
i2 = 9/100 = .09 A
ix*50+(ix+i_{2})*470+(ix-i1)*220=0
ix*50+(ix)*470+(.09)(470)+(ix)*220+(.15)(220)=0
740ix+9.3=0
ix= -.0125 A

The only thing that is bothering me is that I am getting annegative answer. Is this the correct answer using meshanalysis?
Also, this question was a second step of a main question. The mainquestion was to find the Ix using the superposition principle, andto use mesh analysis as verification. The thing is, I don't knowhow to get started with the superposition principle. I'd appreciateit if someone could at least get me started.
Thank you.
Explanation / Answer
Beso, the V_s is actually 15 V, not 8.
