Please help with part C!

3/4 points l Previous Answers Tipler6 34.P020 My Notes Ask Your Teacher The work function for iron is 4.3 eV. (a) Find the threshold frequency and wavelength for the photoelectric effect to occur when monochromatic electromagnetic radiation is incident on the surface of a sample of iron 1.038e+15 HZ 288 nm (b) Find the maximum kinetic energy of the electrons if the wavelength of the incident light is 200 nm 1.911 eV (c) Find the maximum kinetic energy of the electrons if the wavelength of the incident light is 270 nm 0.301388888 X eV eBook

Explanation / Answer

c)   Here, maximum kinetic energy of electrons =   energy of incident light - work function

                                                                           = (6.63 * 10-34 * 3 * 108)/(270 * 10-9) - (4.3 * 1.6 * 10-19)

                                                                           = 7.366 * 10-19   -   6.88 * 10-19

                                                                            = 0.486 * 10-19 J

                                                                            = 0.304 eV
