CHomework Assignment 5 Problem 10.56 5 of 8> Part A You are standing on a slope of 20° to the horizontal and are going to throw a ball at v; 19 m/s up the incline in the (Figure 1). If you throw the ball at 0 33 with respect to the horizontal, at what distance up the incline from your feet does it land? Assume the ball leaves your hand directly overhead, h 1.9 m above the slope. Express your answer with the appropriate units. Figure 1 of 1 d 32.73 Submit XIncorrect; Try Again; 5 attempts remaining 20° Next > Provide Feedback

Explanation / Answer

Path of slope:

y = -tan(20)*x

Path of arrow:

y = -gx²/(2V²cos²(33)) + xtan(33) + Yi

Equating these 2 values for y gives:

-gx²/(2V²cos²(33)) + (tan(33)+tan(20))*x + Yi = 0

or

-0.0192977x² + 1.0133778x + 1.9 = 0 ?

x = 54.33 m

The slant range Rs = x/cos(20)

Rs = 57.82 m
