The spheres are brought into the positions shown in the figure, with a vertical separation of 15 cm between them. Note that you cannot neglect gravity. Explanation / Answer

There are two forces acting on the charge q2:

The attractive force from the positive charge and the force of gravity.

Now   FE = kq1q2/r^2 = (9*10^9*36*10^-12)/(0.15)^2 = 14.4 N

And

Fg = mg = 0.034*9.8 = 0.3332 N

The net force = 14.4 + 0.3332 = 14.7332 N (upward)
