Question
Prepare a professionally presented report on the above tasks. The report should be free of grammatical and formatting errors. To be done with relevant Tables and Figures (with meaningful numbering and captions/titles), appropriate references (if relevant). Note that any charts used in the task from Austroads Guides should be appropriately cited.
For the two trial pavement design configurations obtained in Task 3, calculate the total cost of materials Assume that the road is 25km long and it has a total of 4 lanes (3.5m wide each) and asphalt paved shoulders on both sides of road (1.0 m wide each). Further assume that: Cost of base materials - S(30 . X) perm Cost of asphalt (50+Y) per m3 For the value ofx' take the last digit of your student number and add 1 to it (example: if your student number is S1234567, you take 7 and add 1 to it, so your X-8). Ensure that you take the correct value from your student number. Penalties apply for incorrect use of the value. For the value of"Y'-take the sum of the last two digits of your student number (example: ifyour student number is S1234567, you take 6+7, so Y 13). Ensure that you take the correct value from your student number. Penalties apply for incorrect use of the value. State any assumptions made with justification. Present your results with detailed ca steps. Clearly state your final answer.Explanation / Answer
Report on Calculations of Cost of Road Material
Date, Place
Road consists of road materials to be paved as per the calculations. The side ways provided in both sides of road is termed as shoulder.
Here length of road given is 25km,i.e. 25000m.
Widrh of 1 lane =3.5m
Here 4 lane thus total width of road= 3.5*4=14m
Width of shoulder=1m each thus total width of shoulder=2m
Now volume of road material = 25000*14*t= 350000t
where t is thickness of road .
Volume of shoulder= 25000*2*t= 50000t
Where t= thickness of road as it will be equal to thickness of shoulder.
Cost of base material given=$(30+X)
let student number is S273836798
Thus X=8+1=9
Thus cost of base material= $39 per m3
Thus total cost of base material= 39*volume of road
=39*350000t
Assuming thickness of road as 0.2m
Thus cost of base material=39*350000*0.2=$2730000
Cost of asphalt=$(50+Y)
According to atudent number Y= 8+9=17
Cost of asphalt=$67 per m3.
Thus total costvof asphalt= 67*volume of shoulder
=67*50000t
t will be same=.2m
Thus total cost of asphalt=$670000
Thus total cost of material=$2730000+$670000=$3400000
