Question
I have screen shot the problem (displayed above)
The problem asks to find the current throught the capacitor at time t=0+ (i(0+)) and the voltage drop over R3 at t=0+ (v(0+))
If the values are hard to read they are (in order from left to right): V = 10 V, R1 = 1 kOhm, C = 0.01 microFarad, R2 = 1.2 kOhm, and R3 = 1.5 kOhm
Since the problem is asking to determine these values at t=0+ I am confused. The hints say to redraw the circuit the instant after the switch moves with the capacitor's initial values, but I am unsure as to what that is (since there is no switch pictured above to me is seems as though they already redrawn it). It also says to determine the initial voltage across the capacitor at t=0+ but I do not know how to do that either! Please help and be clear in your response!!!
Explanation / Answer
if this is the circuit for time t>0(with the condition that switch is closed at t=0).for t=0+,capacitor (as it is uncharhed),will act as a short circuit.
so total current in the circcuit=10/1 k=10 mA.
voltage drop over r3 is essentially zero as no current passes through it.
