Chara is a fungi which resembles a lot like plants. It is most closely related to plants because it has stem along with branches and one node. This makes the fungi look very similar to the plant. The characteristics like stem and branches makes it very much identical to the plants.

Chara is a fungi which is called as stoneworts because there is limestone or calcium carbonate encrust that forms after sometime.

Alterations of Generations

In the plant life cycle, meiosis is a stage which occurs during the production of spores. It is a unit of sexual or asexual production in plants which becomes dominant and can grow on receiving favourable environment.

In human life cycle, meiosis occurs during the production of gametes. The gametes are both male and female which fuse together to form a zygote.

In plant life cycle , the generation that produces gametes is in haploid. The chromosome number is half after gametophyte.

In the human life cycle, the individual that produces gametes is diploid(2n) stage.
