The figure shows chicken DNA sensitivity to DNase l in multiple tissues and developmental stages Label the cell type with the globin gene that is expressed in those cells. Some globin gene types may be used more than once Embryonic Adult globin gene globin genes sensitive Key DNA highly to DNase I Chicken DNA Erythroblasts first 24 hours Erythroblasts 5 days Erythroblasts 14 days Brain cells throughout development Adult globin genes Both embryonic and adultNeither embryonic nor adultEmbryonic globin gene globin genes globin genesExplanation / Answer
Here in the picture U is embryonic globin gene and A and D are adult globin gene.
Erythroblast, first 24 hours- hemoglobin synthesis has just began, no DNAse I sensitivity- so there is neither embryonic nor adul globin genes are expressed.
Erythroblasts 5 days- embryonic globin gene, as globin synthesis has started, embryonic globin gene U is the most sensitive for DNAase I digesiton.
Erythroblasts 14 days- Adult globin genes, as A and D are only sensitive to DNAse I , not the U, both A and Dexpress adult globin gene.
Brain cell throughout development- neither embryonic nor adult- there is no DNAse I sensitivity here, as in brain cell there is no globin synthesis.
