A certain clock operates by using the decay of charge of a capacitor through a resistor with a circuit similar to the one used in this experiment. Its basic unit of time (its tick) is the interval of time required for the voltage on the capacitor to decay to a predetermined value, say 1/4Vo. If you found this clock running too slowly, explain how would you adjust the circuit parameters to make it run faster?

I asked this question before but the answer wasn't very clear. I need help with understanding the problem, as well as the steps clearly stated to slove the problem! thanks :)

       If the clock is running slowly, it means that the time between two clicks is very large. To make run the clock faster we must reduce the time between two consequtive clicks. In other words we must assure that the voltage across the resistor drops quickly to (1/4) V0.    Voltage across the capacitor (during discharge) is given by    V   =   V0 * e-t/RC    V0/4 = V0 * e-t/RC    If we want to reduce the time "t" in which V0 reduces to V0/4, Clearly the value of either R or C should also be reduced, appropriately. If we want to reduce the time "t" in which V0 reduces to V0/4, Clearly the value of either R or C should also be reduced, appropriately.
