Question

Question: I was wondering what determines the maximum magnifications one can have in a opitcal microscope? And also, what is the maximum magnifications one can get?

I understand that everything is in respect to the near point (the point where the human eye has maximum resolution / point of most distinct vision), which is ~25cm from the tpyical unaided human eye. I also understand that the human eye can only see so much detail and the microscope can only resolve the image to finest detail that the eye can see.

I need an explanation to the to the question posted to help me better understand the concepts. Thanks!
