Accleration a = - ?g = -3.92 m / s ^ 2

final speed v = ?

from the relation v ^ 2- u ^ 2= 2aS

final speed v = ?[ u ^ 2 + 2aS ]

= sqrt (19.79^2 - (2*3.92*5))

                   = 18.77 m / s

Kinetic energy just before hit the block = maximum elesticpotential energy

                              ( 1/ 2) m v ^ 2 = ( 1/ 2) k x ^ 2
