Question

The relationship between Power (W) and Frequency(Hz)?

I know that Ultra Wideband uses a large number of frequencies but because it uses a small amount of power (under the 'noise table') it does not interfere with the other communications. I thought that electromagnetic waves were caused by change in charge...

What is the relationship between Power(W/MHz) and Frequency bandwidth (Hz)? How can you increase or decrease the power without changing the frequency?

Thank you.

Explanation / Answer

You are right that electromagnetic waves are produced by an oscillating charge. If you have studied electromagnetics then you probabily knows about Maxwell's equation. These equation defines the behavior of electric and magnetic field. If you want to have a relationship between frequency and power, then have a look at Free space path loss formula. You would have notice that less the frequency more will be the losses. Hence satellite system uses high frequency to have minimum losse, because power management in satellite is very crucial.

According to diagram which you have shown, Notice the unit W/MHz for vertical axes and MHz unit for horizontal axes. If you find the area under these curve, the result will be Watt. which means power. So, the above diagram represents constant power in each curve. Hence more the frequency less will be the power and so on.
