Question
I posted two questions that are really similar so if you can help me with BOTH then I would appreciate it and rate highly.#1.) A solid sphere rolls on a level surface at a speed of 3.39 m/s. What is the ratio of its rotational kinetic energy to its total kinetic energy.
#2.) A solid sphere rolls on a level surface at a speed of 5.7 m/s. What is the ratio of its rotational kinetic energy to its translational kinetic energy.

#1.) A solid sphere rolls on a level surface at a speed of 3.39 m/s. What is the ratio of its rotational kinetic energy to its total kinetic energy.
#2.) A solid sphere rolls on a level surface at a speed of 5.7 m/s. What is the ratio of its rotational kinetic energy to its translational kinetic energy. #2.)
Explanation / Answer
rotational enery = 1/2.I.w^2
= 1/2 x 2/5 x m x r^2x (3.39/r)^2 = 2.29842 m r^2
here r = radius
and transtainal enrgy = 1/2 x m x 3.39^2
so Ratio = 2/5 * 3.39^2/ 3.39^2
= 2/5 = 0.4
b)
rotational enery = 1/2.I.w^2
= 1/2 x 2/5 x m x r^2x (5.7r)^2 = 6.498m r^2
here r = radius
and transtainal enrgy = 1/2 x m x 5.7^2 = 16.245 mr^2
so Ratio = 2/5 * 5.7^2/ 5.7^2
= 2/5 = 0.4
