Question
Two speakers, emitting identical sound waves of wavelength 2.0 m in phase with each other, and an observer are located as shown in the figure. At the observer's location, what is the path difference for waves from the two speakers? Someone please help, the only equation i have for path distance is r1-r2=m(wavelength) have no idea how to set this up.
Explanation / Answer
yes you have it right
r1-r2 = m
r1 = 8
r2 = sqrt(8^2 + 6^2) = 10
hence
r1-r2 = 10-8 = 2m
