Question

A small cart with 100g mass is placed on a track mounted on a circular platter. The cart is attached to a string passing though the central axis of the platter. We can measure the tension in the string pulling on the cart by attaching the string to a force sensor.

a) If T is graphed vs ac, what should the slope be?

It is the mass, right?

b) Compare the slope to your answer to question 1. Do they agree within error? If not, which is greater? Give a reason why that value might be greater.

The slope of my two graphs are .0427 and .0126 with Tension in newtons and acceleration in m/s^2
So..

Explanation / Answer

a) yes slope = (m) b) that means change in mass in first graph with slope 0.427 T = 0.427 *m N ; ac = 0.427 m/s^2 in second graph with slope 0.0126 T = 0.0126*m N ; ac = 0.0126 m/s^2
