Question
A thin, cylindrical copper shell of diameter ds = 8 cm has along its axis a thin metal wire of diameter dw = 6.15 ? 10-3 cm. (as shown in the diagram above.) The wire and the shell carry equal and opposite charges of 6.00 ? 10-9Ccm , distributed uniformly.
a)What is the magnitude of the electric field at a point r = 1.30 mm, where r is measured radially from the center of the inner wire?
b)What is the magnitude of the electric field at the surface of the wire?
I found a but cant for the life of my find b. I know you use the same formula and substitute for R with dw/2 but it is not working at all. Please help me find where I am going wrong!!
