Question

An enzymatic experiment was conducted at 4 different temperatures. The following graph shows the amount of substrate remaining each minute after the enzyme was added to the substrate. Based on your knowledge of enzymes and effect of temperature on enzymatic activity, rank the trials 1, 2, 3, 4 from the lowest temperature to the highest temperature (assume identical pH with identical substrate and enzyme concentrations initially for al three trials) 0.4 0.3 2 0.1 0 12 3 456789 Time (min) Select one: ? a. 1

Explanation / Answer

I believe the correct answer to be OPTION E) 4<2<1<3

because at 4, there is no activity seen meaning the enzyme is not activated at all. this can happen at low temperatures. While 3 being the highest temperature as the enzyme shows highest rate at first but quickly get degraded at high temperatures.
