Question
Three resistors having resistances of R1=1.54ohms, R2=2.37ohms, and R3=4.78ohms respectively, are connected in parallel to a 28.5V battery that has negligible internal resistance. I found the following A. equivalent resistance of the combination .781 ohms B. current in each resistor 18.51, 12.03, 5.96 C. total current through the battery 36.5 amps D. voltage across each resistor 28.5V I can't find the last two. Please help! And please explain formula E. Find the power dissipated in each resistor F. Which resistor dissipates the most power and why?Explanation / Answer
Power dissipated=V^2/R
Since the resistor are connected in parallel voltage across them will be same.
Hence power in 1.54=28.5^2/1.54=527.43watt
in 2.37=28.5^2/2.37=342.72watt
in 4.78=28.5^2/4.78=169.92watt
1.54 dissipated the most power since the resistance value is least in it
