Need help with this problem ASAP. Thanks a lot

(a) A square loop with each side as "b” [cm] and a circular loop with radius "b"[cm] is placed on the x-y plane. The loops are placed in a magnetic field H = 2H0(cos (2ot)) . They are both moved with a velocity v =vo + Vo where Vo is a constant Calculate the ratio of the induced emf between both the loops. (b) A Magnetic field is given by the relation H = £ 2.5 + D 1.5 + 2 3 Arm in a medium-1 given by = 1 and1 . It then interfaces with a medium (medium-2) with 2 and .-2 . Calculate the Electric field in medium-2. The interface is in the plane y=0 having a cross sectional area of 10m. Assume both the medium to be dielectric

Explanation / Answer

Answer:-a) From Faraday's law we know that whenever there is a change in flux linked with a metal, emf is induced. Flux is the vector dot product of magnetic field and area vector. So linking flux can be changed either by changing magnetic field or by changing area or both.

Here area thtough which field lines are passing is constant i.e b2 and pi*b2 (in cm2) for square and circular loop respectively. But here magnetic field is varying with time. So there will be an emf generation.

Since emf = d(phy)/dt. Where phy = B.A . So here in this case emf is directly proportional to area. Thus the ratio of emf induced in square and circular loop is-

Es/Ec = b2/pi*b2 = 1/3.14 =0.325.

Note here velocity has no effect on emf generation because loops are continuously in the magnetic field. Or this has no effect on flux change for the loops.

Answer:-b) The electric field in medium 1 is given by- (since medium 1 is air i.e n = 377 ohm)

E = H*n = 942.5x + 565.5y + 1131z . Since plane is y=0 hence y-component of electric field will change(normal component) and x and z component won't change(tangantial component). So E1t = E2t = 942.5x + 1131z.
E1n x (epsilon1) = E2n x (epsilon2) => E2n = 282.75y. Thus electric field in medium2 is-

E2 = E2t + E2n =  942.5x + 282.75y + 1131z  .
