Question

A small cube, s=0.25m, sits on a surface where a uniform electric field of 250.0 N/C is directed downward at a 35.0O angle to the horizontal. Keeping the bottom side of the cube flat on the surface, the cube is rotated (about the z-axis, for example, if the horizontal surface is the x-y plane) until the flux through two vertical cube sides are maximized and the flux through either of the other two sides is zero. Find the flux through either of the two sides for which flux is maximum.

Explanation / Answer

flux = E A cos theta = 250*0.25^2*cos( 55 degrees)=8.96
