Question

All the parameters In the equations have their usual meanings. The universal gas constant, R = PV/nT R = 8314 J/kmol.K = 8314 Pa m^3/k mol K = 0.0820 l. atm/mol. K = 8.314 l.kPa/mol K 1 bar = 1 times 10^5 Pa A boiler producing superheated steam is part of a Reheat Rankin cycle. The cycle operates between the pressures of 30 bar and 0.04 bar with a superheated steam temperature of 450degree C The first expansion is carried out to the point where the steam is dry saturated and then the steam is reheated to the original superheated temperature. a) D Using the explanation of the cycle shown in the figure, descanted Calculate the total energy added to the fluid from the bottle Calculate the heat energy rejected in the condenser Calculate the net heat flow in the re-heat Francine cycle Data can be found in the steam tables.

Explanation / Answer

answer- Rankine cycle is used to predict the performance of stream turbine system.it is the thermodynamical system that is used to converts the heat energy to into mechanical work. Reheat Rankine cycle is optimal eay to increase the boiler pressure not increase the moisture content in the existing vapor is to reheat the vapor after it exits from first stage turbine and redirect and reheat vapor into second turbine.

In above diagram of Reheat Rankine cycle explenation of each step are following

level X and Y axis represents- X axis represents Entropy in (KJ/KgK) and Y axis represents Temperature in degree centigrade

In steps 2- 4 represents pumped stage (Q= 0) - the working fluid is pumped from high pressure to low pressure. fluid occurs in liquid state at this state so pumps requires little energy.

Step 4- 6 represents boiler (W= 0). In this stage high pressure fluid enters where this fluid heated at constant high pressure by external source. as result the fulid become dry saturated air.

step 6- 8 represents turbine stage (q=0) dry saturated vapor expand through a turbine and generating power. this decrease the temperature and pressure some condensation may occur

step 8 - 1 represents Conderser stage (W=0) the wet air enter in condenser where at constant pressure it becomes saturated air.

2 - total energy added to fluid from the boiler q1 = (h3-h2)+(h5-h4)

3- energy ejected from conderser q2 = (h6-h1)

4- total net heat flow in reheat rankine cycle is

(h3-h2)+(h5-h4)-(h6-h1)/ (h3-h2)+(h5- h4)
