Explanation / Answer
LD50: it is the determination of lethal dose or toxicity level of bacteria Aeromonas hydrophilla. Since this bacteria is distributed worldwide and responsible for loss in aquaculture. They are mainly present in the intestines of fishes and affect their health.
Risk assesment: Risk assesment involves identifying hazards or risks involved in workplaces as well as proposing sensible measures to control them.
Food security: Food security is the availablity of stored food and individual access to food at all times. It is the measure and steps to combat situations of drought, economic instablity, wars, disruption of shipping and fuel shortage carrying foods etc. The United Nations has declared the right to food as human rights in 1948.
Obese is a medical condition in which excess of fat is accumulated in a person's body which is causing negative effects. It is measured generally by BMI (body mass index), calculated by dividing person's weight by the square of person's height. When this BMI is over 30 kg/m2 the person considered as obese. The obesity increases the risk of other diseases like diabetes, heart disease, osteoarthirities etc. The obesity basically developing due to excess intake of food, lack of physical activity, genetic susceptiblities.
Malnutrition is a condition in which the diet of a person is not providing them enough calories and nutrients for their growth and maintenance. It developes when a person is taking insufficient or imbalanced consumption of nutrients . It can affect the physical and mental development of a person. The symptons of malnutrition are short height, thin body, lack of energy, swollen legs and abdomen.
CAFO ( concentrated feeding operation) : it is the process in which large animals are reared and confined to a small and limited places. This practice is done in United States as well as other parts of the world. Most of the poultry and other livestock raising are using CAFO.
Aquaculture is the farming and rearing of both freshwater and salt water population like fishes, mollusks, crustaceans and aquatic plants in a controlled conditions. It is different from the commercial fishing. It consists mainly of fish farming, oyster farming, shrimp farming, algaculture and mariculture.
Genetic engineering: It is the modification of genetic make up of cell either by adding or removing genes using technologies. The purpose of genetic engineering is to get improved or desirable traits in an organism that are not already found in that particular organism. Examples of genetic engineering is the GMO or the genetically modified organisms which are the plants having resistance to insects and herbicides.
Demography is the study of human population and includes size, structure and distribution of population. It also includes the spatial and temporal change in the population in response of factors like death, birth, migration, aging etc. It also covers education, ethnicity, nationality, religion etc of the population.
