Please answer and explain these questions. Thank You!!!

l. Below is the charging by induction procedure outlined in section 4 of the lab manual. Just after each step of the procedure, determine the sign of the net charge on the electroscope vane and electroscope disk. 1. A Teflon rod is rubbed with a wool cloth so that it becomes negatively charged. An electroscope is nearby that is initially neutral on both its vane and disk. 2. The charged rod is brought near the disk of the electroscope. The charged rod does not touch anything and no sparks Jump. What is the sign of the net charge on the disk just after this step? Post Vane hat is the sign of the net charge on the vane just after this step?

Explanation / Answer

here ,

1) when the negative charged rod is brought near the disk

charge on disk = positive

charge on vane = negative

2)

when the negative charged rod is brought near the disk

charge on disk = positive

charge on vane = negative

3)

when the post is grounded , charge on the vane will go to ground

sign of charge on disk = positive

sign of charge on vane = neutral / no cahrge

4)

as the rod stay , the charge configuration will be same as before

sign of charge on disk = positive

sign of charge on vane = neutral / no cahrge

5)

when the charged rod is moved away from the disk ,

electric charge will get uniformly distributed on disk and vane

sign of charge on disk = positive

sign of charge on vane = positive
