Question
Can you please give me a short answers for 1 to 4.
1. Do fish have a blood vessel that returns blood from the gills to the heart? Would you expect blood pressure to be high or low after blood has moved through the gills? 2. What animals studied have pulmonary vessels that take blood from the heart to the respiratory organ and back to the heart? What is the advantage of a pulmonary circuit? 3. Which of these animals has a four-chambered heart? What is the advantage of having separate ventricles? 4. The circulatory system distributes the heat of muscle contraction in birds and mammals. Is the anatomy of birds and mammals conducive to maintaining a warm internal temperature? Explain your answer
Explanation / Answer
1. In fish has single circulatory system , the heart pump blood from heart to gill where it get oxygenated and then flow to the organ from their it return to heart. The blood pressure fall down as it moves from gill to other organ. This low blood pressure is fine in case of fish, but not in human.
2. In human/mammals the blood-deoxygenated blood flows from heart to lungs and then oxygenated blood run back to heart from where it is pumped to different vital organ.
As, the pulmonary system of circulatory system allow flow of de-oxygenated blood from heart to lungs, after which the oxygenated blood comes back to heart and then pump back to the organ. Therefore it make circulatory system more efficient.
3. Mammals and birds have four chambered heart. As mentioned above, four-chambered heart have special advantage of sending de-oxygenated blood to from heart to lungs, then from lungs the clean-oxygenated blood flow back to the heart and pumped to the other organ. Here the both deoxygenated and oxygenated blood never mix, which make this system very efficient, as compared to fish circulatory system.
4. Birds and mammals are warm blooded organism as they maintain relatively higher body temperature irrespective of the external temperature. Their circulatory system transport materials including oxygen and nutrient and distributes heat. For instance, in cold environmental condition blood vessels constrict to conserve heat via diverting into deeper tissue, which avoid heat from escaping the body. However, during warm conditions blood flows more toward skin or peripheral region to decapitate body heat so as to maintain particular body temperature.their it return to heart.
