Question

Please show work and answer questions 2 and 3 with provided information from Genotypes and question 1... THANK YOU!!

Genotypes:

A1/A1: 80

A1/A2: 20

A2/A2: 90

Total: 190

1. Use the data above to estimate the frequency of the two alleles. Be sure it is clear which frequency corresponds to which allele.

It is given that, the frequency of A1A1 or p2 is = 80/190 or 0.421

The frequency of A1A2 or 2pq is = 20/190 = 0.105

The frequency of A2A2 or 2pq is = 90/190 = 0.473

The frequency of A1 allele or p is = Frequency of p2 + ½ (2pq) = 0.421 + ½ (0.105) = 0.4735

The frequency of A2 allele or q is = Frequency of q2 + ½ (2pq) = 0.473 + ½ (0.105) = 0.525

2. Use your answers from question 1 to calculate the EXPECTED FREQUENCY for each of the three genotypes

3. Use your answers from question 2 to calculate the EXPECTED NUMBER for each of the three genotypes

2. Expected frequency estimation:

A1 A1

= 0.47*0.47 = 0.224

A1 A2

= 2*0.47*0.53= 0.499

A2 A2

= 0.53*0.53 = 0.277

3. Expected number estimation

A1 A1

= 0.47*0.47 = 0.224 * 190

= 43

A1 A2

= 2*0.47*0.53= 0.499* 190

= 95

A2 A2

= 0.53*0.53 = 0.277*190

= 53
