Can anyone please explain these objectives for me in detail:
8. (1.117) Create and discuss a picture that illustrates the importance of crossing over and chromatid exchange during meiosis l and explain what happens if these cross over events do not occur. characteristics through the process of meiosis and sexual reproduction. referencing costs and benefits of each mode in the context of natural selection in different 9. (1.118)Describe how allelic segregation and independent assortment result in inheritance of 10. (F63) Compare and contrast sexual and asexual modes of reproduction - explicitly real or imagined scenarios.Explanation / Answer
normally if crossing over does not happen then it does not affect the individual or progeny and there would be less genetic variation. but an evolutionary point of view crossing over allows more variation in the offspring in the hope that some of them will survive and as genetic variation decreases, the species has a very less chance to evolve and adapt as natural selection mostly favors more variation.
