Question

If BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations only account for a small number of breast cancers, why is there a much higher rate of breast cancer in patients with a family history of the disease (even those that do not have the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations)?

Following a breast cancer diagnosis, a sentinel node biopsy is often conducted. What do "sentinel", "node" and "biopsy" mean? Why is this important to conduct as early as possible?

How is ovarian cancer identified and diagnosed? How is this different from the way that most breast cancers are identified?

Explanation / Answer

There are much higher rate of breast cancer in patient with a family history of the diseases because If in a family of a person have an breast cancer, then the gene of BRCA1 and BRCA2 are inherited from one generation to another. Another, reason could be inheritance of TP53 gene from the parents. Some other reason of having breast cancer include, age, drinking alcohol and other factors.

When doctor diagnosed, the cyst in lymph nodes, then he or she remove that node to prevent the movement of cancer from one place to another in the bodyy

Biopsy means removing of tissue from the body to find the cause of the disease.

Node means the lymph node present in the underarm.

It is important to conduct as early as possible because cancer can spread from one location to another.

Ovarian cancer is the cancer in ovary, Fallopian tube and uterus. It I s identified by formation of cyst in ovary, Fallopian tube and uterus. It is diagnosed by test like transvaginal and CA 125 blood test.  

Breast cancer is identified by cyst formation in lymph node whereas ovarian cancer is formation of cyst in ovary, uterus and vagina.
