1. a) Vegans are deficient of Zinc and iron.
b) The major reason for its deficiency is the higher content of absorption inhibitors such as phytate and and polyphenols and the absence of flesh foods.
2) a) Children need more of Calcium and Vitamins.
b) Calcium being the building blocks of bone and teetg & Vitamins strengthens the immune system and helps keep blood vessels clear and flowing well. Vitamin D also helps protect against chronic disease later in life.
3) a) Athletes are usually deficient in Vitamin B and Vitamin D.
b) Exercise stresses many of the metabolic pathways where micronutrients are required, and exercise training may result in muscle biochemical adaptations that increase micronutrient needs. Routine exercise may also increase the turnover and loss of these micronutrients from the body.
