Pollution and Environmental Damage
First, in a truly substantive posting of three paragraphs or equivalent in bullet notes, describe a situation of pollution or environmental damage that interests you. Use at least one professional resource outside the text book. Why did people damage the environment so badly? How? What should be done next time, for the same why, to prevent the same how? (Examples include Love Canal, Chernobyl, nuclear in Japan, acid rain, the current situation with landfill on the earth).
Explanation / Answer
I take the example of holy river Ganges. It is polluted by many factors. It is believed that when the dead body or the ashes are mixed in the Ganges, their soul will rest in peace. This is a traditional practice. The other factor is the workers from the leather factory dumps all the waste into the river so that the river can carry it and settles somewhere. The motor boats used to transportation releases thick layers of soot and Ash in the water.
People do this intentionally because of negligence and there are no rules. They don't think about the environment or the consequences , the just do it because of the wrong attitude. Even in Chernobyl or in other countries people just harm the environment by negligence.
No proper disposal and no safety and no care. Strict rules must be applied and people around these causes must be educated and the officers must be strict and inspect regularly. Prevention is always better and instead of cleaning the aftermath we can stop the production and save the environment. Low quality products must not be used and when they are hazardous at any point proper care and precautions must be followed. Reducing the waste and recycling the waste and reusing it are best adviced techniques for saving the environment. Chernobyl accident is unexpected and caused much loss. People are not aware about it and no one expected this. So if there is a proper attention during the accident loss could be controlled.
