As we’ve studied, animals were very important to ancient Egyptians – some were considered sacred, while others were used for farming or other domesticated activities. Ancient egyptians had many animals that were used for various purposes. animals generally were used as pets, in the farms, source of transportation and as source of food, for their meat and fat available in animals which was used for cooking and obtaining oil. each and every body parts of every animal was useful and nothing was considered a waste.
the cats in the ancient egypt were highly respectrd and for killing them was considered a punishable offence, it was not just a cat but also a woman whom the people called as Bastet( a goddess in the ancient egypt) they were also considered a goddess beacuse they were possesed with some magic.
cats were regarded as lucky ones to the people who domisticated them ,good or bad was depended upon thye cat, for everything good intented they use to worship cats.
even for good harvesting the cat is a lucky symbol ,if somebody dreamt of the cat in his sleep it will be a good output from harvesting.
other than cat many other animals were also worshipped such as cows and crocodiles but cat was regarded above all animals.
cats were domisticated and were considered as a important member of every family .they were like mother to every family because people of the ancient egypt believed that the cat watched over their children and also ther homes.
but it would be wrong to depict them as domisticated animals,indeed they were considered special ones ,no animal other than cat was so much privileged.
cats were depicted in arts and paintings . cats were drawn on walls in the food stores as rats, snakes and mice feared the cats and do not food is protected from these creatures from being wasted.
they also had the privilege of getting mummified, even prefered over human mummyfying.
