A plane travels at a bearing of 49.5 degrees from point A for 79.4 mi. The plane then travels for 124.6mi at a bearing of 149.3 degrees. How far is the plane from point A?

distance travelled = 79.4(cos49.5 i + sin49.5 j) + 124.6(cos149.3 i + sin149.3 j)

= (51.566175 - 107.137593) i + (60.376234 + 63.613647) j

= -55.571418 i + 123.98988 j

distance from A = sqrt((55.571418)2 + (123.98988)2) = 135.8737 mi
