a. Taking first 10 names off the class roster would not be from a random sample. This will overestimate the off the class roster students. Potential bias will be that each member of the student will not get the equal probability to get selected those are off the class roster . Therefore sample will not be representative sample of the class. Selection bias is more prone to occur.
b. Taking first 10 assignments submitted students would not necessarily form a random sample. There would be possibilities that students who submitted the assignment first are more active and intelligent students in the study. The study sample will overestimate the active and intelligent students.
c. Taking last 10 assignments submitted students would not necessarily form a random sample. There would be possibilities that students who submitted the assignment last are lazy or below average students in the study. The study sample will overestimate the lazy or below average students.
d. A better way to select 10 students assignment by using the random number table or computer-generated random table. In this approach, 10 students will be randomly selected from a total number of assignments students. This approach will allow every member of a class to get the equal probability to get selected which will represent the entire class. Selected bias could be minimised using this approach.
