Question

After reading the background information and watching the instructional videos, answer the following questions. DQuestion 21 1 pts Tall is dominant over short in pea plants. In a population of pea plants, 60 were tall and 40 were short. If the all of the pea plants in this population reproduce and the next generation is 200 plants of which all of the short (homozygous recessive) plants die, what is the resulting frequency of the tall allele? ng Previous No new data to save. Explanation / Answer

Population Ratio

Tall:Small = 60:40 = 6:4 = 3:2

T/S = 3/2 Eq 1

New Generation:

Total Plants = 200

Let's assume tall = x

Small = 200-x

Putting in Eq 1

x/(200-x) = 3/2 => 2x = 600-3x =>5x = 600 => x= 120

Tall plants were = 120

Frequency of tall plants = No. of tall plants/ Total Plants =120/200 =3/5

Every 3 plants in 5 is a tall plant.
