Question
A hand written solution will be helpful
Consider transient heat conduction in a plane wall of finite thickness. The wall is at a uniform temperature of T. The wall is insulated at x = 0 and exposed to fluid with T infinity and h at x = L. The total normalized energy transfer is: Q* = Q/Q0 where Q0 = Pcp VO. Explicitly write the expressions for Q* as obtained from the lumped capacitance method, Q*LCM (divide Eqn. 5.8a by Q and look at Eqn. 5.13 for the argument of the exponential), and as obtained from the one-term approximate solution, Q1*(Eqn. 5.46). Plot Q*LCM and Q* on the functions of the Fourier number, Fe, for Biot numbers of Bi = 0.1 and 5 plots with 2 curves each). Plot over the range of FO = 0 to (2/ )2. Obtain the values of xii from Table 5.1 the corresponding Bi.
