Question
PLEASE SHOW ALL STEPS FOR 5*
Consider two materials A and B, which are to be evaluated for deep drawability. Three tensile samples of each material are cut at 0 degree , 45 degree and 90 degree to the rolling direction. Each tensile specimen of initial dimensions 10=r and wo=0.25 degree is to be pulled in a tensile testing machine to 10% elongation and the specimen width is measured and given in the table below: Calculate the R-bar and DR values for the two materials A and B from the above data. Compare and discuss the deep-drawability of A and B. Discuss the factors controlling deep-drawability.
Explanation / Answer
Rbar = 0.5* (R0 + 2R45 +R90)
a) Rbar A = 0.4682
Rbar B = 0.4752
b) A is a better material for deep drawability since it has less value of Rbar . We always want to minimize Rbar
c) factors are crystallographic orentation , crystal structure of metal, ductility.
