QUESTION 19 Typically, volcanic eruptions o a do not result in significant long-term climate change. O b. result n címate cooling because ofthe extra ash in the atmosphere. c. result in climate warming because they release so much methane. o d. result in climate warming because they release so much carbon dloxide QUESTION 20 Which of the following is/are the major factors that contribute to climate? a. temperature o b. temperature and storms storms and precipitation. od temperature and precipitation QUESTION 21 mage below is of the Keeling Curve This tells us that the concentration of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere over the past 50 yeans 400 360 340 Oa fluctuates on a 10-year cycle. O is constant od. is increasing.

Explanation / Answer

1.Typically Volcanic eruptions results in Climate cooling because of the extra ash in atmosphere.volcanic eruptions is basically release of molten rock ,ash and gases from deep within the earth into the atmosphere. Ash released in the atmosphere has significant effect on climate depending on the size of ash particle. Small Ash particles are lighter they accumulate and form dark cloud in atmoshphere shading the troposphere ,resulting in cooling of the area. Also during eruption sulphur dioxide is released which forms sulfuric acid aerosol/droplets which reflect incoming solar radiation resulting in cooling of the area.

2. Temperature is the major factor that contributes climate change,it is mainly due to changing heat balance of the earth. Sun activity has major influence in the climate change and heat exchange between atmosphere, landmass and oceans.

3. the keeling curve tells us that co2 is increasing in the Earth's atmosphere over the past 50 years.
