Question
In 5 hours or less, please use software JMP (required) to analyze the data from the experiment as described below, include the ANOVA model and all assumption checks in your analysis, comment on screenshots to show your analysis, and clearly state your conclusion(s). Thank you.
1. A chemist wishes to investigate the effects of temperature and pressure on the yield of a chemical process. Three levels of temperature (low, medium, and high) and four levels of pressure (200, 225, 250, and 275 psi) are selected. The chemist wishes to observe the yield of the process twice for each of the 12 treatments (two observations of the yield per treatment combination). However, only 12 observations of the response variable are possible on a given day, so two days are required to complete the factorial experiment, For this chemical process, some differences in yield are possible from one day to the next even though the temperature and pressure conditions are the same. Consequently, the replications in reality represent the effect of the time factor, which is the background variable here. In other words, the 12 treatments can be randomized only within a day, and the two days form two blocks. Since each block (day) contains all 12 treatment combinations, then the blocks are complete The sample data collected for this experiment are shown below. Conduct an analysis of the data to determine whether the effects of temperature, pressure and their interaction are statistically significant. Day 1 Pressure Day 2 Pressure 200 225 250 275 200 225 250 275 Temperature Low Medium High 58.2 58.9 59.1 60.8 60.8 59.7 61.1 62.4 60.3 60.1 60.8 62.9 63.2 61.2 62.4 63.7 60.8 62.9 62.6 64.3 65.7 62.9 64.1 64.9Explanation / Answer
It is clear from the data that on the first day i.e DAY 1 at constant pressure staatig from 200psi at variable temperatures the yeild trend has increased from 58.2 to 60.8 similarly at the presuure increased from 200 to 225 psi the yeild trend has also increased from 58.2 on a low scale temperature at 200 psi to 58.9 on the same low scale temperature at 225 psi
It is observed that on the DAY 1 as the temperature is increased from low to high the yeild has incread and also as the presuure is increased the yeild has also incresed ,it means it can be concluded that with an increase in temperature and presure on a constant rate the yeild can be increased or improved from the data drawn from day 1
Similarly from the DAY 2 data ,it is observed that at a pressure of 225 psi there is a decrease in the yeild trend compared to the day1 and later there is a constant increase in the yeild though there is rise in temperature and presssure. This might be due to a fluctuation on the day2 basis compared to the day1
Finally it can concluded that there is an increase in the yeild with the increase in the temperatuere and pressure on a constant basis.
