Suppose you have 35 observations, the smallest and largest of which are 117.3 and 262.4, respectively. Apply the accompanying procedure to choose classes for cutpoint grouping. Use eight classes. Choose the class width by rounding the cakculated approximate class width up to the nearest multiple of 5. Choose the lower cutpcint of the first class by rounding the minimum observation down to the nearest multiple of 5 Click the icon to view the procedure for choosing classes. Classes for cutpoint grouping (Use ascending order.)

Explanation / Answer

here as we are supposed to use eight classes

theerefore width =(maximum value -minimum value)/number of class =(262.4-117.3)/8 =18.1375

rounding above to nearest multiple of 5 ; width =18.5

here first class =117.3 ~ 117.0 (rounding down to nearest multiple of 5)

hence first class =117.0 to (117.0+18.5=135.5)

second class =135.5 to 135.5+18.5=154

hence below is table:

117 -under 135.5 135.5 -under 154 154 -under 172.5 172.5 -under 191 191 -under 209.5 209.5 -under 228 228 -under 246.5 246.5 -under 265
