Question

Find the probability that the 6 th toss out of a total of. 10 tosses is Heads, given that there are exactly 2 heads out of 10 tosses. As in the preceding segment, continue to assume that all coin tosses are independent and the each coin toss has the same fixed probability of heads

Explanation / Answer

here there are exactly 2 heads out of 10 tosses.

so, if probability of heads = p

Pr(2 heads out of 10 tosses) = 10C2 (p)2(1-p)8

we have to find that 6th toss is heads, that means out of 9 tosses, there will be one head only

Pr(6th toss is head) = p * 9C1 (p)1(1-p)8 = 9 p2 (1-p)8

so if p = 0.5

Pr(6th toss is head and exactly 2 heads are out of 10 tosses) = 9 * 0.510 = 0.0088
