Question
I need help with with these 3 questions! I have tried andtried. 1. A rectangular room is 7 feet longer than it is wide. If thearea of the is 228 square feet, find the length and width. 2.A rectangular flower bed with width 12ft and length 15ft isgoing to have a walkway of uniform width on all sides. If the areaof the walkway is 90 square ft, how wide is the walkway. 3.If an object is thrwon upward with an initial velocity if96ft/sec, its height after t sec is given by h=96t - 16t^2. Findthe number of seconds before the object hits the ground. I need help with with these 3 questions! I have tried andtried. 1. A rectangular room is 7 feet longer than it is wide. Explanation / Answer
1. First, here is the diagram u should come up with a squarewith sides x and x+7 Then to find area you do the following: A=lw A=x(x+7)=228 x^2+7x-228=0 (x+19)(x-12)=0 x=-19, 12 Since u cant have a negative length, then x=12 So, the dimensions are 12 ft by 19ft. 2. This is a guess. I woould disregard the first half of thequestion because if you find the area of the flowerbed, its180ft which is is considerably larger than 90ft. So, iwould just say that given that the walkway has equal sides, do thefollowing: A=lw A=x(x)=90 x^2=90 x=±90 Once again, length is always positive so we get that the widthof the walkway is 90˜9.487ft.
