Explanation / Answer

Solution:

Let Wendell have $x initially.

after rent
= x - x/2
= x/2

after 1st chance
= x/2 -25

after 1st landing
= (1 - 3/5)(x/2 -25)
= 2(x/2 -25)/5
= x/5 - 10

after go
= x/5 - 10 + 200
= x/5 + 190

after 2nd landing
= (1 - 1/2)(x/5 + 190)
= x/10 + 95

after jail bail
= x/10 + 95 - 50
= x/10 + 45
= 70

x/10 = 70 - 45 = 25
x = 10*25 = 250

initial money = $250
