Question

I need to know how to get the exposure for this data by using this number:

The output of the tube at 80 kVp is 8 mR/mAs (75 cm SID)

for example i used Abdomen data:

Bucky (in)= 3, Thikness= 23 cm convert it in Inches= 9, SID= 40 in

so, 40-9-3=28 in convert that to cm is = 71.12com

then,

(75/71.12)^2= 1.11

now i need to the exposure, and i don't know how. please help

Explanation / Answer

Answer See Firstly as data of Thickness is in Cms so to convert into inches we use simple conversion-

as 1 inch= 2.54 cms

therefore , 1cm= 1/2.54inches.

therefore , here thickness is 23 cms so it is 23 x 1/2.54 = 9.05 that is approximately = 9 inches.

Now, for SID = 40 is given in inches so , 40 inches - thicness in inches -bucky (inches)= 40-9-3=28 inches.

Now we convet it again into cms ,

as 1 inch= 2.54 cms ,

therefore , 28 inches = 28x 2.54=71.12 cms.

hence putting this value in formula result is obtained.
