Question
Please answer it in a clear hand writing so, i can read it (1) Launching blocks of energy to study springs. ree springs (1, 2, and 3) are placed at below. The relative value of the spring constants a masses of blocks A, B, and C are given below. The springs are compressed by the same amount. The blocks are released from rest and launched up the inclines. All springs compressed same amount; k mc (a) From the moment block A is released until it reaches a maximum height on the incline, does the total mechanical energy of block A increase, decrease, or remain conserved? Explain. (b) How, if at a would your answer differ for block B or block c? Explain.Explanation / Answer
a) as there is no loss due to frictional force or air drag
the mechanical energy will be conserved
b)
answer will be same for both B and C also , as there is no loss
c)
for the same compression , energy stored in 1 is higher than 2
and as the mass of block A and B is same
block A will go higher than block B
d)
Now , for same compression , energy stored in 2 and 3 springs will be same but as the mass of C is less
it will go to a higher point
hence , B go to lesser height than C
