Question

I have some notes that I wrote from when the teacher was explaining how to solve the question.

The notes you see under the questions are to help answer the question.

Staright Exercise Four Atmospheric Extinction of Discussion Questions s exercise, can you create an argument for why the Based on the results you found in sky is blue mosphere scathi somewhere Tr blue say Len H hoa go 2. Explain. linear If not, in what way might they deviate be more Curved

Explanation / Answer

From sun we recive the light of almost total em spectrum. However, we can see only visible spectrum. When we consider the total visible spectrum travelling through the atmosphere that contains many particles of nano and micro meter sizes.

We know that the scattering of light is inversely proportional to the fourth power of wavelength so blue light will be more scattered than red light and blue light spreads more than any other colours. So sky looks like blue.

However, the violet light is absorbed by the atmosphere so its content is less thats why we cannot see sky in violet colour although its wavelength is less than blue.
