1) probiotics could be referred to as live bacteria or yeasts that would be good for aiding digestion and improving the overall health of a person. These could also be referred to as the good bacteria. These bacteria help in maintains the health of the gut. These may be in the form of supplements or foods. There are many bacteria that could be classified as probiotics, and these include the following species: Lactobacillus, bifidobactrium and Saccharomyces boulardii . They help in controlling gut movement or eradicating some of the conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome or diarrhoea related to antibiotic.
Yoghurt itself is a fermented product that has a number of benefits but these yoghurts contain added strains of bacteria that will not be available in regular yoghurt. Regular yoghurt contains milk, which may be whole milk or skimmed milk, along with fermented cream that has come from the lactic acid producing bacteria. These also contain strains such as Streptococcus thermophilus Or acidophilus. This may either be sweetened or plain Nd may be non fat or low fat.
Probiotic yoghurt such as activia, has most of the same ingredients that are found in regular yoghurt along with the strains mentioned above. Along with this, there is presence of special strains such as Bifidus Regularis, this is a strain that has been added to the activia yoghurt, which results in improvement of a person’s well being. This also removes minor problems in digestion and has been known to cure constipation.
