Hi I need help with 2papers
. Charmaine. Alan, and Dan served a total of 69 arders Monday at me rders than Charmaine. Dan served 2 tmes ss many orders as serve? street cateter. Adan served 9 monte Charmsine How many orders did they each Evaluate the expression when n = 6 3. Solve the following system of equations. -7x +6y-7 a. Over the last three evenings, Karen received a total of 102 phone calls at the call center. The third evening. she received 3 times as many calls as the second evening. The first evening, she received 8 tewer calls than the second evening. How many phone calls did she receive each evening? , Evaluate the expression when x =7 and z =1. 3 (x +z)2 -5x implify your answer as much as possible. , solve for x. 7(r-7)-5--6(-4x +6)-5x implify your answer as much as possible. 0 2018 McGraw-H Final Test (Su 2018) #1 | Page 1 /4Explanation / Answer
1. Let us assume that Charmaine served x orders. Then Alan served x+9 orders and Dan served 2x orders. Since the total no. of orders served by these 3 persons was 69, hence x +(x+9) +2x = 69 or, 3x+9 = 69 or, 3x = 60 so that x = 20. Thus, Charmaine served 20 orders, Alan served 29 orders and Dan served 40 orders.
2. When n = 6, n2-7n +9 = 62 -7*6+9 = 36 -42 +9 = 3.
3. We have 8x-5y = -8…(1) and -7x+6y = 7…(2) On multiplying the 1st equation by 6 and the 2nd equation by 5, we get 48x-30y = -48…(3) and -35x+30y = 35…(4).
Now, on adding the 3rd and the 4th equations, we get 48x -30y -35x +30y = -48+35 or, 13x = -13 so that x = -1. Then, on substituting x = -1 in the 1st equation, we get -8-5y = -8 or, -5y = -8+8 = 0 so that y = 0. Thus, x = -1 and y = 0.
4. Let the no. of calls received by Karen on the second evening be x. Then, the no. of calls received by Karen on the third and the 1st evening were 3x and x-8 respectively. Since the total no. of calls received by Karen on the three evenings is 102, hence x-8 +x +3x = 102 or, 5x = 102+8 = 110 so that x = 110/5 = 22. Thus, on 1st ,2nd and 3rd evening, the no. of calls received by Karen were 14(22-8), 22 and 66(3*22) respectively.
5. When x = 7 and z = 1, we have 3(x+z)2-5x = 3(7+1)2 -5*7 = 3*82-35 = 3*64-35 = 192-35 = 157.
6. 7(x-7)-5 = -6(-4x+6)-5x or, 7x-49-5 = 24x-36-5x or, 7x-54 = 19x -36 or, 19x-7x = 36-54 or, 12x = -18 so that x = -18/12 = -3/2. Thus, x = -3/2.
