Question
For a single dose of medication in your body that depletes on a % or fractional basis, it will look like the above graph. But not all medication depletes fractionally. Zero order kinetics... With a few drugs, such as aspirin, ethanol, and phenytoin, the doses are very large. As the amount of drug rises in the plasma, certain processes that have limited capacity become saturated; i.e., the rate of the process reaches a maximum at which it remains constant degradation due to limited amount of enzymes even if the dose increases; so, it is not proportional to the dose. This is also called rate- limited. What kind of function does this remind you ofrExplanation / Answer
This reminds me of 2 functions of mathematics.
First is c.e-xwhere c is a constant that is the maximum rate of the process and as x which is amount of dosage increases beyond a certain limit, this will only increase slightly but will never be graeter then c.
The second function is Max(kx,c), where k and c are constants , c being the maximum rate and k being the linear multiple by which rate will increase before reaching to maximum.
