Conditional Probability Conditioning on cards. Draw one card from a shuffled deck of 52 cards. What is the probability that the card is a spade if you know the card is a 7? What is the probability that the card is a spade if you know the card is black? What is the probability that the card is a 7 if you know the card is a spade? What is the probability that the card is a 7 if you know the card is black? What is the probability that the card is black if you know the card is a spade? What is the probability the card is black if you know the card is a 7?

Explanation / Answer

a) as there are four 7 in a deck of cards one of which is of spade.

hence probability =1/4=0.25

b)cause the black color is assigned to only club and spade.

hence probabilty of that =1/2 =0.5

c)as there are 13 cards of spade in a deck. hence probability of 7 =1/13 =0.0769

d)as there are two 7 of black color, hence probability =1/2=0.5

e)as spade is of black color hence probability =1

f)as there are two black out of four 7.

hence probability =2/4 =0.5
