Question

The numbers of days 20 patients remained hospitalized are shown below. 6 9 7 14 4 5 6 8 4 11 10 6 8 6 5 7 6 6 3 11 Construct a frequency distribution and a frequency histogram of the data using 6 classes. Describe the shape of the histogram as symmetric, uniform, negatively skewed, positively skewed, or none of these Construct a frequency distribution of the data using 6 classes. Choose the correct histogram below. Describe the shape of the histogram below. Choose the correct answer below. A. Uniform B. Negatively skewed C. Positively skewed D. Symmetric E. None of these

Explanation / Answer

Answer

Here the data is given as,

6 9 7 14 4 5 6 8 4 11 10 6 8 6 5 7 6 6 3 11

So here we note that the lowest observation is 3 and the highest one is 14 . So in order to create a frequency distribution of 6 classes we take the classes as,

2.5-4.5 , 4.5-6.5 , 6.5-8.5 , 8.5-10.5 , 10.5-12.5 , 12.5-14.5.

The corresponding frequency distribution is as follows,

Now from the given four graphs about the Histogram and looking at the frequency distribution we can easily say thaat option D is the right one.

And from the Histogram it is easily noticed that the shape of Histogram is C. Positively skewed

As tthe histogram has a peakedness at the 2nd class and then it diminishes gradually in next 4 classes.

Hence the answer..........
