Question

Please find the P-Value and explain if the alternative hypothesis is rejected or accepted by null hypothesis the in the picture above?

Tony's Pizzeria's staff can accommodate 65 customers per hour. Tony suspects that his mean customer load diffors from 65. He performod a hypothesis test with 0 UE and came up with a Vatue of 0.18. State the 2 h otheses ret u and and state the conclusion Ho: u 65 a: If in fact the mean number of customers is 65 per hour, then there is Ha: LL 65 a 5% chance that Tony will conclude that the mean number of customers per hour is not 65. P-Value: If the mean number of customers per hour is 65 and if we sample the same number of hours repeatedly, then 18% of the samples will result in a sample mean farther from 65 than the sample mean that the Tony obtained.

Explanation / Answer

In testing of hypothesis, if the p-value is greater than the level of significance, the null hypothesis H0 is accepted which is the same as saying that the alternative Ha is rejected.

With reference to the given question, we are given level of significance, = 0.05 and p-value = 0.18 which is greater than 0.05. So, the null hypothesis H0, µ = 65 is accepted which is the same as saying that the alternative Ha,   µ 65 is rejected. Hence, we conclude that Tony's suspecion is NOT statistically valid.DONE
